This is one to the very best days out. The Moreton Show is a very traditional one day Agricultural and Horse Show which is held on the first Saturday in September each year in Moreton-in-the -Marsh. It is one of the largest one-day agricultural shows in the UK and attracts over 20,000 visitors each year. For the horse enthusiast, there are no less than 66 classes in 6 different rings and, as the show includes qualifiers for HOY, the standard of competition is very high. The Hunters are a particular personal favourite. This year, Carl Hester is judging the championship. But aside from the horses, this is a classic mix of livestock show classes, young handlers to supreme championships, terrier racing, motorbike stunt riders, vegetables and baking to jams and pickles, vintage tractors, rural crafts and of course multiple shopping opportunities. This is all combined into a charming and colourful event set up each year in a park-like setting with marques and tents and hurdles and rings strung with rope. There is something really special about such shows, combining together the scent of crushed grass, the fluttering tents and beautiful livestock into a magical mix. And the magic happens every year.
